Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. The financial security company has teamed up with two leading national nonprofit organizations focused on fighting childhood cancer and helping families, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) and Starlight Children's Foundation™ (SCF). Through these partnerships, Northwestern Mutual will activate a range of programs and events in communities across the country. Pioneer Financial members volunteered their time and the company made a sizeable donation to the foundation in 2013. For 2014, we are sponsoring a charity golf outing in October at the Pelham Country Club in Westchester County, NY.

The Life Raft Group is a non-profit with a simple focus: to cure a form of cancer — GIST (gastrointestinal stromal tumors) – and to help those living with it until then. Our mission to ensure the survival of GIST patients through a comprehensive approach connecting individual patients’ needs, the worldwide community of GIST advocates and the global health and research environment. To achieve this, we focus on three key areas: Patient Support & Education, Advocacy and Research.
Formed by a handful of patients wo were diagnosed with this rare cancer and formally incorporated in 2002, the LRG supports the GIST community through one-on-one counseling, an active email community, educational seminars, webcasts, publications and virtual meetings. They maintain the largest GIST patient registry in the world and oversee the GIST Collaborative Tissue Bank, working with the leading medical experts in the field. The LRG International Research team works collaboratively to find a cure. Advocacy efforts encompass personal patient advocacy, local, state and international initiatives.

The Pan-Mass Challenge raises money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through an annual bike-a-thon that crosses the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Since its founding in 1980, the PMC has successfully melded support from committed cyclists, volunteers, corporate sponsors and individual contributors. All are essential to the PMC’s goal and model: to attain maximum fundraising efficiency while increasing its annual gift. Our hope and aspiration is to provide Dana-Farber’s doctors and researchers with the necessary resources to discover cures for all cancers. One-Hundred-percent of every rider raised dollar goes directly to Dana Farber Cancer Institute and they have donated $414,000,000 to Dana Farber in the past 34 years and $39 million in 2014 alone.

The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund is a leader in supporting the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families. Begun in 2000 and established as an independent not-for-profit organization in 2003, the Fund has provided close to $150 million in support for the families of military personnel lost in service to our nation, and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans. These efforts are funded entirely with donations from the public, and hundreds of thousands of individuals have contributed to the Fund.

Read Ahead ignites a love of reading in young students through mentoring, improving their confidence as well as their odds for success in school and life.
Since 1991, Read Ahead has partnered volunteer mentors with elementary school students throughout New York City for one-on-one lunchtime reading-based mentoring sessions. Through the over 15,000 lunch hours spent annually in Read Ahead, our students develop confidence and other social and emotional skills crucial for success. Read Ahead serves over 1,000 students across 20 schools in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and Jersey City with the support of over 1,200 volunteer reading mentors from 40 corporate and community partner organizations.

Founded in 2013 by two partners who decided that it was time to do what they truly love in life, A-Game Sports has made the ideology of hard work and fun going hand in hand into a reality. Baseball has always been a passion of the staff at A-Game Sports and they share that enthusiasm with kids of all ages and skill levels that come through their program. Their weekly day camp is for boys and girls ages 7 to 14. The staff consists not only of former collegiate stars and elite athletes, but also of educators and highly talented recreational players who are experienced in working with children and who know the value and impact that sports can have on their physical and emotional development.

3A Foundation Incorporated is a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of children through Academics, Arts and Athletics. The Cefalone family started this foundation to make a difference to the children living in the down trodden areas of Ewing and Trenton. It all started in 2012 when Ron and Lorri Cefalone initiated a baseball drive at their local sport store collecting new and used equipment for children. Not only was equipment collected but donations were accepted as well which attributed to paying for registration fees for several families as well as the purchase of new uniforms. The long term Goals of 3A Foundation Inc. is to expand throughout all of New Jersey and help pay for underprivileged students to continue their education beyond that of a GED.
